¿Oxímoron?

Oxymoronとは

矛盾した比喩的表現のこと。


日本語では、あんまりないかな・・・。

Oxymoron is a figure of speech with combination of contradictory terms.
The typical example is "open secret"!


Oxímoron es una figura lógica con combinación de los términos contradictorios.
El ejemplo típico es "instante eterno"...?! 

たとえば

典型的な例が
open secret!


Secretは秘密なのに
それがopen ってどういうこと＾＾？！ 

矛盾してる！


意味は”公然の秘密”
なるほど、これは普通にあり得る言葉です。


Well in fact, although the two terms look so contradictory 
in the respective meaning,
the combined phrase just means normal.
Such an expression could be more effective.

Aunque los dos términos parecen contradictorios 
en sus sentidos, el combinación significa normal.
El expresión tal como puede ser más efectivo.


英語の単語としては
つなげるのがヘンに感じるけど。。。
こういう語法が
逆により効果的なことがあるのです☆


他にも
pretty awful　とか。

かわいい prettyなのに
awful　ヒドイ？！ 
矛盾してる！


Another example could be 
"pretty awful" 


と思いそうですが
この場合のprettyは “非常に”という程度を表す意味なので
“かなりひどい”という意味です。


言葉はやっぱりおもしろい☺

agonizing rest.
rest は“安息”や“お休み”

ところが、その前の agonizingは、“苦しい・苦痛な”という意味。
“苦痛の安息”？！


For instance, how about 
"agonizing rest"?!

¿¡"descanso atroz"!?


これは、最近の私の状況＾＾；。


This in fact represents my recent condition... 
Actualmente, era condición reciente de miyo... 


ヒドイ風邪で苦しみながら
全てを休んで、体を休めた、
私には必要な安息の時期だった、
という意味です♪


I suffered from terrible cold,
but by cancelling all, I had a good long rest 
which my body had actually needed. 


Sufrí mucho de resfriado terrible,
pero por cancelando todos, tuve  descanso largo,
que mi cuerpo necesitaba realmente.

That's why language has countless aspects that cannot be even explained.
That's why it is so interesting.

What  I found particularly interesting is 
onomatopoeia in Japanese；
imitative words.
Especialmente, creo que onomatopeya en japonés es muy interesante.

I can't resist using some for interpretation 
from time to time. 
Yo uso unos a veces para traducción también.

日本語では、

それが、そのときの様子や感情を

一番よく表せる、

聞き手の想像を膨らませ

一番じっくり

わかってもらえる、と

思えるときがあるからです☆


In Japanese, I often find such words can best describe 
the subject situation or emotion,
so that listeners can best understand 
by stimulating their imagination. 
Pienso con frecuencia que las palabras tal como onomatopeya pueden 
describir la situación o emoción en la manera mejor en japonés, 
y los oyentes podrán entenderlo mejor por hinchando su imaginación.

例えば、

♪わくわく♪

もともと「興味が沸く」の「沸く」から生まれた言葉のようですが、

きっと、英語でもスペイン語でも

「心がはずむ」とか

「心が躍る」とか

そういう説明的な表現でしか

言い表せないのではないかな？


For instance, 
Waku-Waku in Japanese
which expresses the condition of mind that is excited or thrilled.  
It seems to be originated from the Japanese words "Waku" 
meaning "something like interest or feeling is generated".
But in English and Spanish, I would assume that there is no such onomatopoeia 
but rather explanatory expression, such as 
"get restless or excited, thrilled", etc...would be required.


Por ejemplo, 
Waku-Waku en japonés expresa la condición de la emoción 
que es enthusiamado, o contentísimo.
La palabra se origina de lo japonés "Waku" que significa 
"sensación como interés o emoción es generado".
Sin embargo, creo que no hay onomatopeya tal como en inglés ni en español,
sino hay que usar expresión explicativo, como
"enthusiasmarse, o hacerse ilusiones" etc...

really gives an impression of excitement with jovial and fun taste☆

Waku-Wakuって、けっこう簡単そう。

去年Waka-Waka が流行ってたし、簡単そう☀

Wonder why Japanese language has quite a few onomatopoeia!
It would be nice if this word gets popular in English or Spanish as well.
Waku-Waku doesn't seem so difficult ...
given that Waka-Waka was so popular last year＾＾.
Me pregunto porque lengua japonésa tiene muchos palabras onomatopoeias...
Sería bien si este palabra queda popular en inglés y español también.

Gross National Happiness (GNH) 

国民総幸福量

ＧＮＰのように金銭的、物質的豊かさを目指すのではなく

精神的な豊かさ、幸福を目指すべきだという考えから生まれた指標。

ブータン政府はGNHの増加を政策の中心としているそうです。


GNH was developed to measure "quality of life" or social development
 in more psychological aspect than GNP. 
The Bhutan government has established the target of GNH improvement 
as national measure.


GNH fue establecido para medir "calidad de la vida" o desarrollo social 
más siscológicamente que PNB.
El gobierno Bhutan ha establecido un objetivo de aumentar GNH(o FNB?) 
como medida nacional. 


経済・教育・健康などの点でもかなり優秀な日本でも、
国民の幸せ度は、実はそこまで高くないみたい。
一方、識字率47%で世界最貧国のひとつブータンの国民90%以上が
自分は　“幸福”　だと思っているということです。

Although Japan excels in the aspects as economy, education and health, etc.,
the degree of happiness of the nation doesn't seem so high... 
On the other hand, in Bhutan, one of the poorest countries, 
whose literacy ratio is 47%,  90% or more of the people believe that 
they are happy. 
 Aunque Japón supera en los aspectos como economía, educación y salud, etc.,
el nivel de felicidad no es tan alto...
On contrario, en Bhutan, uno de los países más pobres, 
cuyo nivel de alfabetización es 47%,  
90% o más gente creen que ellos están felicez.

通訳者の人は、結構普通の人が多いため（＾＾）、
話す内容が専門的になればなるほど、

事前に通訳者にできるだけの情報を与え、できるだけ通訳者の知識レベルが

話す人に近づくようにしてもらえると助かります＾＾。

As interpreters could be generalists rather than specialists,
more technical the subject matter becomes, 
more helpful it would be if you could provide them with 
as much information as possible so that the knowledge level 
of the interpreter could be closer to that of the speaker. 


Como muchos intérpretes pueden ser personas generales más que especialistas,
si el tema es más técnico,
sería mejor dar lo más información posible o material al intérprete anterior
para que él puede preparar bien para el trabajo.

勿論、話す人によっては、ずーっと何年も、とっても専門的な分野に携わり、
すごい高度な知識を持っている方も沢山います。

Obviously, some speakers could be experts who have been involved 
in very technical area for many many years.  
Por cierto, unos hablantes pueden ser expertos que se han involucran en 
un campo muy técnico por muchos años. 


とても、そんな人の知識に追いつくことは、できなさそうなのですが、
通訳者が、そんな専門家の皆さんと同じように
完璧にその分野をマスターする必要は勿論ありません。

It seems too difficult to catch up with the knowledge of such experts!
However, interpreters wouldn't have to be perfect in the area 
as those experts are.
Al parecer es muy difícil conseguir el conocimiento de los expertos.
Sin embargo, los intérepretes no necesitarán perfectamente dominar ese tema. 


つまり、完璧な知識を持ち合わせていなかったとしても、
話す人同士が、ちゃんと誤解なく理解できて、コミュニケーションが成功すれば
通訳者の任務は完璧に遂行できたと言えると思います☆


In other words, 
as long as the speakers can mutually understand with mo misunderstanding 
and the communication is carried out successfully, 
we can say that the interpreter, with no sufficient level of knowledge,
 has completed the mission successfully!


O sea, solamente si los hablantes se pueden entender mutuamente sin equívoco,
y la comunicación se cumpli con éxito, 
se puede decir que el intértrete, sin suficiente nivel de conocimiento,
 ha conseguido su misión! 


なので、内容が専門的になるほど、
できるだけ事前に内容を教えてもらえたり、
使う資料をもらって勉強できるようにしてもらえるととても助かります☆


Therefore, it would be very helpful if you could provide information 
or material to study, with interpreter,
even more so when the contents is technical.
Por lo tanto, serviá mucho si podría dar información o material al intérprete,
sobre todo cuando el contenido es técnico.


通訳者にとって、ちょっと大変なのは
話している人本人自身の中で
話すことの意味とか目的がはっきりしなくなってしまっているとき・・・。
他人の頭の中をしゃべろうと頑張ってる
通訳者としては、
結局何が伝えたいポイントなのか、
が読み取れないと、
もっと不明瞭な訳語になってしまいます☹
What is challenging for interpreter is
when the speaker himself is not very sure what the purpose or purport of 
the communication was...
For the interpreter who is trying so hard to 
speak about something in someone else's brain,
 it would be so difficult if the point of the utterance is not clear or vague.


Lo que es difícil para intérprete sería 
cuando el hablante su mismo no está seguro 
que será el propósito o sentido de lo que habla... 
Sería muy difícil si el punto de los palabras no es muy claro o vago 
para el intérprete que está intentando hablar sobre algo 
que está en el cerebro  de  otra persona.


少なくとも、今から話そうとする内容、あるいは会議や商談が
結果として何を目指しているのか、
交渉を成立させたいのか、
良い関係を保つための接待なのか。
一番伝えたいメッセージはなにか。
ということを教えてもらえると
通訳者はその目的を達成させるために
ひたすらがんばります❢


At least, if you could tell the interpreter what the main point is,
what is the deliverable of the speech would be from the meeting or negotiation;
would you want to close the deal?
would you just entertain your client to keep good relationship?
What do you want to convey to the listener most?
Then, the interpreter will surely work so hard 
focusing on the target!


Al menos, si podría decir al intérprete que el punto esencial será, 
que será resultado esperaba del reunión o negocio；
¿quiere concluir el trato? 
¿quiere solamante entretener a su cliente para mantener bueno relación?
¿Que quiere comunicar más a la persona que le escucha?
Y, ¡el intérprete podrá trabajar atentamente para 
conseguir el objetivo!
